Art Team: Bringing Culture all Over Campus

Tiffin University is one of few campuses that has a large number of opportunities available to students, especially in athletics and music. One of these opportunities, though, is not highlighted as much. This opportunity is the art team, and it's offered to all students.

Joe Van Kerkhove is the advisor of the art team. Van Kerkhove took over the art team back in 2011 when it only had two members. One of the art team’s first projects on campus was the musical mural on Clay Street.

Twelve years later, the art team has blossomed into now having fourteen members.  They're currently doing many projects across campus.

Junior Natalie Myers is one of the newest members.  She says it is a judgment-free and creative area.  The environment makes it fun to come up with funky ideas that will one day come to life.

The team is currently working on two big projects. One of the projects is creating a mural for the Tiffin University women’s soccer team locker room.  The other project is creating t-shirt designs for students across campus.  These t-shirt designs will be available sometime after spring break.

Other projects that the art team has done in the past include implementing the Diane Kidd Gallery art exhibit, creating graphic designs for the Performing Arts Laboratory, photographing and videotaping events, and conducting educational tours and workshops for local schools.

If you think you'd make a great addition to the art team, contact Joe Van Kerkhove at vankerkhovejm@tiffin.edu
