TU Professor and Alum Help in Putting on a Magical Concert at Walt Disney World

Anything can happen at “The Most Magical Place on Earth,” including a Tiffin University professor performing onstage.

TU professor Dan Myers performed with “Gary Sinise & the Lt. Dan Band” in an uplifting concert for Snowball Express 2022 at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida.

An initiative of the Gary Sinise Foundation, the Snowball Express 2022 event hosted over 1800 family members of our fallen military heroes for five days. From meeting Disney characters to riding rollercoasters, the families created many lifelong memories. One of the highlights for a lot of families was the evening concert in EPCOT on the final day.

TU Alum Olivia Calafato also took part in the event as the Entertainment Coordinator of the Gary Sinise Foundation.

"The annual Disney in December event has been my favorite and most rewarding event thus far during my time at the Foundation. Working with the band and ensuring that these incredible families receive the best possible trip means the world to me and the events team,” said Calafato. “The performance by Gary Sinise & the Lt. Dan Band in Epcot was the perfect way to end the week in the most magical place on Earth. I couldn't have asked for a better opportunity after my time at TU!”

Following the concert, the families viewed Epcot's firework show "Harmonious!" around the World Showcase Lagoon.

The Gary Sinise Foundation’s mission is to honor and support veterans, wounded heroes, first responders, their families, and the families of the fallen - those who sacrifice for our country and communities. The notable actor and founder of the Foundation, Gary Sinise, has often said, "while we can never do enough to show gratitude to our nation's defenders, we can always do a little more.”

“I’ve performed at Snowball Express with the Lt. Dan Band for over ten years now, and it’s consistently one of the most important concerts we’re fortunate to take part in. Seeing the families return year after year and build memories, it’s truly an honor,” said Professor Dan Myers.
