Christmas at the Ritz 2022 Recap

On the night of Dec. 3rd, Tiffin University’s Arts program put on a  show that put everyone in the Christmas spirit.

To kick off the show, the University Choir sang four unique songs. The crowd favorites were the Nigerian holiday carol "Betelehemu" and the classic tune "Joy to the World" but with its own special twist.

The university’s small groups Beyond Understanding, No Rain, Higher Ground, Up in the Air, and Word on the Street performed a mixture of original and classic holiday tunes. A trumpet trio debuted their rendition of the classic song "Jingle Bells."  The trio consisted of Georgie Ward, Weston Bollinger, and Tabatha Marshall.

A handful of talented students performed as soloists. Super Senior Ike Arrington performed "White Christmas." Guitarist Colton Fleure brought back childhood memories by playing "Linus & Lucy." Hope Love performed Ariana Grande’s tune "Winter Things" alongside professor Alex Manfredo.  Jake Curtis sang "Winter Song" by Sara Bareilles & Ingrid Michaelson.  Violinist Katie McDonald played "Carol of the Bells" by Lindsey Stirling.

The TU Dance Team performed many numbers throughout the program. Under the guidance of instructor Laura Stark, the team danced to the Disney song "Do You Want to Build a Snowman?" and "Brother" by Kodaline.

TU's marching band played "Holidays Down Main Street." The Dragon Big Band swayed the audience with jazzy tunes including "A Swingin’ Silent Night," and "The Funky Dreidel." "A Swingin' Silent Night" featured TU student Weston Bollinger on trumpet and Erik Falk on trombone. "The Funky Dreidel" featured guitarist Brodie Detterman and alto saxophonist Gracie Ames.

Some of the local young talents took the stage with TiffinKidz. TU students Carter Bennett and Jessica Briney have been directing the kids throughout the semester. They performed songs like "Mary Did You Know" and "Jingle Bell Rock."

The University Choir and Word on the Street performed with the kids during the finale. The mixture of groups finished off the production with a mashup of "Heal the World" and "Feliz Navidad."

Every group did not disappoint the audience. The room erupted in applause and cheers as the show came to a close.

Christmas at The Ritz would be possible without the community’s support.  It was a performance to remember!
