Faculty & Staff Showcase = A Huge Success
On Oct. 6th, the TU’s Performing Arts faculty and staff came together and showcased their talents to the student body. This event was set at 7 p.m. at the Marion Center.
The hour-and-a-half-long showcase staged Alex Manfredo (piano and vocals), Drew Parent (drums and organ), Peter Kharchenko (guitar), Brad Rees (vocals), Justin DeLong (vocals and piano), BK Riha (vocals), and Dan Myers (vocals, piano, and harmonica). The showcase even featured a few music students: Jeremiah Liggett (bass guitar), Zach Banks (drums), and Evan Watt (bass guitar).
The crowd of students and other staff erupted in praise after every song performed.
Three songs particularly grabbed the audience’s attention.
The first big hit of the night was a song titled, “Taking Chances” by Dave Stewart and Kara DioGuardi. This was performed by professors DeLong, Manfredo, Kharchenko, Parent, and student Evan Watt.
The next hit of the evening was songwriter Lionel Ritchie’s, “Easy (Like a Sunday Morning).” This 1992 hit was performed by Kharchenko, Watt, and Parent along with Manfredo, DeLong, Riha, and Rees on background vocals. Professor Myers took center stage with his strong voice and piano skills and topped it off with a memorable harmonica solo. This solo made the crowd go wild.
The last song featured professors Manfredo, Kharchenko, Parent, and student Watt instrumentally. DeLong, Rees, and Riha rocked out while singing Bon Jovi’s, “Living on a Prayer.”
At the end of the final song, our amazing staff received mass amounts of applause. The Faculty & Staff Showcase successfully displayed the talents of the TiffinArts professors. It was an unforgettable performance!
